Tomasz Tobolewski

Professor at the University of Silesia

He engages in a dialogue with the old masters of painting: Velazquez, Rembrandt, Caravaggio creating his own world where the rules of the game are set by colour. He likes to contrast and surprise. He would like to create art that provides emotion.

Tomasz Tobolewski, born in 1973 in Zabrze. Between 1995-2000, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow (branch in Katowice). Between 2003 and 2006, he worked at the painting department of his alma mater. Since 2003, he has run his own atelier at the Silesian University, Institute of Art in Cieszyn. He is interested in drawing, graphic art and painting. He has won numerous awards in Poland and abroad, including at the International Drawing Biennale in Plzeň, the Dry Point Graphics Biennale in Serbia, the International Drawing Competition in Wrocław, the Polish Contemporary Drawing Triennale in Lubaczów or the Polish Graphics Triennale in Katowice. He has participated in numerous solo exhibitions, including at the Daejeon International Art Show in Korea (2022), Posk Gallery in London (2018) and group exhibitions: Salon de L'estampe Contemporaine, Ruel-Malmaison in France, International Biennale of Drawing in Skopje, International Biennale of Printmaking in Guanlan, China, International Mini Print in Sarajevo.
